Jesus was speaking to His disciples after they came asking Him to teach them how to pray in Luke chapter eleven. After He finished teaching them what we know as the Lord’s prayer, He began teaching them about a person in need who sought bread from a friend to set before a guest coming to his home. The man was turned away but didn’t give up. He continued asking his friend to supply his need. Jesus told His disciples in Luke 11:9-10 “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find: knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
When we have a need in our life, Jesus encourages us to make that need known unto Him in prayer. When we go to Him praying in agreement with His Word, He will hear us, respond to us, and open the windows of heaven sending down our request.
Notice that it is important for us to pray in accordance with the clear teaching of God’s Word. If I ask to win a million dollars in a gambling operation obviously God will not grant me a hearing. If I pray for a friend or family member to be saved receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour I have God’s full attention. We should never give up seeking God’s help in a matter. Search God’s Word to know God’s will. Go to Him with your request and continue in faith trusting Him to supply your need.
God bless. Have a wonderful day in the service of our Lord.

Seeking God in our life is essential if we desire a close and abiding relationship with Him. When we seek Him with all our heart He hears us and makes His presence known to us.
